Thanks to the fog… Physics Work Day! February 21, 2007

Filed under: Physics — Mrs. Berger @ 9:39 am

If you can make it and have time in your busy schedules, I will have my back classroom door open as of 1 PM today to continue our Rube Goldberg machine building.  It is not required that you show up, but you can if you would like to get some stuff done!  We have 3 days left (counting today).  Yikes!

Science Fun for Christmas Break December 19, 2006

Filed under: Applied Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemistry I, Physics — Mrs. Berger @ 2:53 pm

If you have not had enough Christmas fun in science class, you should check out the Physics Wonderland song and The Twelve Days of Physics.  I hope you all in chemistry enjoyed making ornaments and the Physics students enjoy your silver bottles for many years to come.  Thank you for taking time to “study” for my finals and making my first semester at Delphi enjoyable.  Have a safe and wonderful holiday and I will see you after the Boilermakers defeat the Terps (a.k.a. “Twerps”) of Maryland in sunny Florida. :)

NOTE: If you miss a final, you must make it up on Tuesday, January 2 starting at 8:30 and you must be done before noon for your grades to be entered.  This is your responsibility!

Final Exam Review Info December 17, 2006

Filed under: Chemistry I, Physics — Mrs. Berger @ 12:35 pm

Physics Students - problem #7 should read that the motorcycle was ridden northEAST and not northwest.  This is how the problem is stated in my book, but the rest of the question makes no sense if it says northwest.  I didn’t catch this my first time through, sorry!

-Also, a reminder that we will have a review session Monday after school for any additional help.

-Caitie, I can see you sent me an email, but for some reason it says “file not found” when I try to read it from home.  Please resend your email to my personal email at “myfirstname”@mjberger.com.  Insert my first name where it says “my first name” :) I don’t want to give it out, because I don’t need anymore spam!

Chemistry I students - A reminder that you have a review session Tuesday after school.  -The answers to the review problems in the book are in the back of your book, so you can check your work there.

Nova has a website for the history of E=mc2 and it might prove useful for some of you doing your projects over scientists from the movie.

Neutrinos at Fermilab November 30, 2006

Filed under: Physics — Mrs. Berger @ 4:24 pm

In light of our trip last week to Fermilab and our NOVA video today - “The Ghost Particle” - I have found the article from Scientific American’s July 2006 issue discussing the MINOS project.  Happy reading!  (The Ghost Particle page has some really cool pictures in its slideshow of the detectors at Fermilab and at the one in Japan we saw in the movie.  Fascinating stuff - check it out!  You might also want to visit the “teacher’s notes” section that contains an overview of the video for review for your upcoming test.)

Physics Comic and Other Light Reading November 26, 2006

Filed under: Physics — Mrs. Berger @ 10:37 pm

Here’s a funny comic my husband found and thought you might all enjoy.  If only Physics were as easy as playing with blocks!

Also, Daniel is doing his article #3 over this article from Discover about Einstein’s equation and the issues facing physicists today.
